Badland, Goat Simulator & Mega Coin Squad – Girls Gaming Weekend

Last weekend we had a Girls Gaming Weekend at my place. We usually have Girls Gaming Weekends a few times a year to get to hang out and just play games together from Friday to Sunday ^_^  NinjaBrite and MissDeluxe came over and we started the evening out with some Mega Coin Squad by Big Pixel Studios on Xbox One. This was definitely my type of game ;D We had a good time battling it out for a couple of rounds, but eventually the girls got sick of me winning every round! moahahahaha 😉

The game is quite simple and feels like one giant bonus level in Super Mario Bros! There’s various game modes, either you battle it out and see who can collect the most coins and bank them in the piggy bank (it’s a literal piggy bank! haha), or there’s one giant coin that you compete on collecting and banking, there’s also a death match mode and a “hold the rainbow” mode where you just have to hold on to a rainbow coin as long as possible. Throughout the game you can punch, dash, jump and shoot your opponents 🙂 There’s loads of weapons to collect, like assault rifles and grenade launchers. But after having played all the levels and all the various modes a couple of times it gets kind of repetitive.

Later I’ve also tried out the Single player campagin, it’s quite entertaining, but very short. You can try to beat it better and faster and get all the objectives, and finish it with all the different characters, but it still gets repetitive. There’s only 4 worlds, each containing 4 stages. The map looks extremely similar to SMB ;D *SPOILER ALERT* What’s really awesome though is that you unlock a secret characters after beating it the first time!! It’s… Robot Unicorn!! 😀 And he’s awesome ^_^

During the first Girls Gaming Weekend evening we also drew the winner of our Geeky Gals 1K Giveaway! Congratulations @jimbuschman! 😀 The package is on its way to you ^_^

Since we started off quite late on Friday night we only had time for one more game after Mega Coin Squad which was Goat Simulator! Fun Fact: Our Geeky Gal Gabriella just got hired by Coffee Stain Studios who made Goat Simulator ;D Me & MissDeluxe had a blast with Goat Simulator ^_^ NinjaBrite didn’t quite find it as amusing. I agree that it is kind of a pointless game, with a few objectives like: wreck shit, lick this or that, wreak havoc and explore new areas… but it is a completely retarded and glitchy game which makes it quite entertaining ^_^ The disclaimer on the Goat Simulator website probably says it best:

“Goat Simulator is a small, broken and stupid game. It was made in a couple of weeks so don’t expect a game in the size and scope of GTA with goats. In fact, you’re better off not expecting anything at all actually. To be completely honest, it would be best if you’d spend your $10 on a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe a real-life goat.”

On Saturday we surprised MissDeluxe with throwing her a bachelorette party, since she’s getting married this August 😀 She did not see it coming ^__^ So we didn’t get back to gaming until later on Sunday. Then we downloaded a co-op game called Badland: Game of the Year Edition. This is an #awesome game made in Finland!! Great co-op fun available on both Xbox One, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Steam and also coming to Wii U this summer!

In Badland you control cute little blobs, the controls are easy, you just steer and press A to flap and ascend upwards. You have to avoid obstacles and get to the end. During the stages there will be various power ups that can either make you smaller or bigger or make you roll, bounce or stick to surfaces, and enter speed-up or slow motion mode! There’s also an item that spawns your friends if they have died along the way, some of these items multiply your characters creating a horde of little creatures flapping about! It’s so cute!! 😀 Each player controls the creatures of their color, so when there’s like 50 of them it’s kind of hard to have them all survive, but it doesn’t matter, as long as one single blob make it to the end of the stage it’s cleared ^_^ Teamwork!

I recorded some short footage of the gameplay so you can get an idea of what it looks like 🙂 It’s beautiful! And the colours change between worlds 🙂

Since this Girls Gaming Weekend got a bit cut off with the bachelorette party and all we will have to throw a new one soon ^_^ Maybe we’ll do a live stream on twitch then! 🙂
