In 2018 I downloaded a game on my Xbox One called Awesome Pea, it was cheap, it was green and it was full of nostalgia 😀 I played through the whole game, got every achievement and enjoyed the ride filled with classic Game Boy graphics and awesome chiptunes! I love simple game concepts that still offer a challenge! Retro games FTW!

Right before the summer started I saw an ad in the Xbox store for Awesome Pea 2! MAN WAS I EXCITED! I preordered it and had in on release day 🙂 This game is just the sequel you wanted it to be! Just like the original it’s a 2D platforming adventure featuring a pea. You can’t shoot but you can jump and double jump. You have to traverse the stages to reach the end without touching enemies, spikes or falling down pits.

Sounds easy enough, but some stages require extreme precision jumping and being a completionist, I just have to finish the stages AND grab all the coins! XD So it took me a few evenings to get through it completely 🙂 But it’s a great game to just pick up and play for a little while and continue later if you don’t have a lot of time to sit down for big adventure games that usually take forever just to pick up again…

If you’re missing the good old Game Boy days you should definitely check out Awesome Pea 2! You can play with or without the classic scan-lines. Available on Steam, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and even Playstation Vita! There’s also some pretty sweet 8-bit chip tunes in the game 😉
